More wedding plans

I'm still waiting impatiently for my shoes to arrive! Supposedly they were with the courier yesterday morning so hopefully I will get them this afternoon......

I ordered some place cards from breast cancer care (which you can purchase here), they come with little pins, either ribbons, hearts or butterflies. I thought it would be a nice touch in rememberance of H2B's mum who passed away from breast cancer.

I've been trying to decide on a cake topper. I really don't want to pay a fortune for something that I could make myself - and what happens if the figure looks nothing like you when it arrives, I'd be so annoyed! So I purchased myself some little wooden figures that I was going to paint to look like myself and H2B. They look something like this:

But in the end I decided to get my fimo out and see what I could come up with. I will post pics when I have finished them, but I am quite happy with how they turned out. Originally I wanted to use fabric for the outfits but couldnt' find a sample of suit material and because the figures are quite small it was going to be very time consuming and tricky. I used acrylic paint instead and will add a few touches like fabric for my veil and some scrapbook-type flowers for the button hole. H2B insisted I make him with a goatee as I was going to leave him clean shaven, but it looks quite cute!

wedding plans continued

'Yippee, my 'I do' stickers arrived today - now just waiting impatiently for my shoes!

I'm still trying to decide what i want to do with my hair for the big day. I want to have it slightly off my face but not all tied up, and possibly with a shoulder-lenght veil attached behind my head, not on top.

H2B and i are deciding on wedding favours. We have found some flip flop bottle openers for the men and some silk and bamboo fans for the ladies. H2B wants to get the openers engraved and there is another company that prints on the actual fan - but this will bring up the cost a lot and i'm not sure if it is really neccessary. Not all the guests will be sentimental and keep the favours.

I also liked these from the same place
these would also be cute

Wedding plans so far

I can't believe 2012 is here and our wedding is in just over 6 months - help! Although a lot has already been sorted I still have a lot to organise.
I found my dress after my second attempt at dress shopping. I walked right past it on the rack of dresses but when the lady in the shop insisted I try it on I was pleasantly surprised. It is a Tia 5011 by Benjamin Roberts. I admit from the website picture it doesn't look much. I will post of picture of me in my dress once my H2B has seen it (on our wedding day only of course!) I've chosen the ivory one, not the gold colour.

I am still trying to decide on shoes but am swaying towards blue ones. I have never liked white shoes and since our colours are silver and blue thought it would be a nice flash of colour. The dress is quite long so you won't really see the shoes anyway. I have ordered both of these from Debenhams so we'll see which looks better - can't wait for them to arrive! I also ordered some diamante 'i do' stickers for the bottom of my shoes!

For jewellery I am undecided whether I want to wear a necklace or not, but if I do I am considering a thin strand of pearls, or a single pearl on a silver chain. I really like the idea of a pearl bracelet with 3 strands

Ayedo.co.uk-dbl strand

I am toying with the idea of a parasol as well - but probably in white. It will be nice for the photos so maybe I should get one for each of my bridesmaids....?

I am still deciding on the favours, H2B seems to be willing to spend a lot on them but I don't know if people will even keep them - I'd rather spend it on sparkling wine for the toast or some extra bottles for the tables!

Wedding Invites

As you may know C and i are getting married next year in Cyprus. We are having a fairly small wedding as we don't have a lot of money to spend. I decided to make our wedding invitations as we only had around 30 to send out, and I don't see the point in paying someone to do something that i could do myself. Also i do enjoy being crafty and was looking forward to it.

I copied a template that my friend had for her wedding which holds the invite, the rsvp and other details. I can't say the idea was my own but i did design the layout and found a template for the airmail border. I printed the information onto coloured card using a laser printer. After cutting out the invites with a craft knife I stuck them down with double sided glue - so much better than using pritt! I tied the other two pieces of paper with some silver ribbon so they wouldn't fall out of the pouch. I found a punch at a craft shop and punched the heart design on the invite so when it is folded up the heart is on the top. On the reverse I used some silver stickers which say 'invitation.' I have had a few positive comments from our guests so far, one even thought i had taken them to get professionally printed!
